Olympus Unveils TG 850 and SP100

Along with the OM-D E-M10, Olympus is also announcing two other new cameras, the tough TG-850 iHS and the Ultrazoom SP-100 iHS.

The TG-850 his is Olympus' newest addition to their rugged line of cameras. The 16 megapixel camera has a 5x optical zoom that has an equivalent focal length of 21mm-105mm (in 35mm standards). The camera also has a 2x super zoom and a 4x digital zoom. The camera offers an ISO range of 125-6400. It has a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 sec and has a TruePic VII image processor. The camera offers a BSI (back side illuminated) CMOS 1/2.3 sensor. The camera boasts a 3-inch swivel LCD screen that flips 180 degrees. The camera shoots full HD 60p video.

But most of that won't matter to those looking at this camera. For only $279.99, you get a tough camera that can be waterproof to 33 ft, crushproof to 220 lbs, shockproof to 7 ft, freezeproof to 14 degrees F, and is completely dustproof. So take this little guy to the beach, pool, or ski slopes. It will be happy to bring back all of your memories in one piece even if you dropped it in the sand or let it ride some waves with you. You can choose from a black, silver, or white finish.

The Olympus SP-100 iHS is the company's newest Ultrazoom camera. The 16 megapixel camera has a 50x optical zoom that has an equivalent focal length of 24mm to a whopping 1200mm (in 35mm standards). The camera also has a 2x super zoom and a 4x digital zoom. The camera offers an ISO range of 125-6400. It has a maximum shutter speed of 1/1700 sec and has a TruePic VII image processor. The camera offers a BSI (back side illuminated) CMOS 1/2.3 sensor. The camera boasts a 3-inch LCD screen. The camera has an electronic viewfinder with a scope-type focal assist. The camera also has an adjuster to help correct for parallax when zoomed out. The camera retails for $399.99.
