by Sarah White -  1/7/2014

Nikon has announced it is developing the Nikon D4S HD-SLR, which will be the flagship model of its next generation of cameras. It will arrive as the successor to the Nikon D4 HD-SLR, with improvements on the previous model's image quality and autofocusing.

The camera is slated to feature a new image-processing engine and a more advanced autofocusing system that the company states will make it a great companion for sports, nature, and event photographers. The forthcoming D4S HD-SLR camera will retain many of the well regarded features of the Nikon D4, including fast speeds, great low-light photography, and high image quality.

In a press release announcing the D4S HD-SLR, Nikon states that the flagship camera "will further expand the possibilities for professional photographers who demand the best possible performance and image quality in challenging environments."

There aren't any further details yet regarding the specs, availability, or price of the device, but Nikon will have the camera on display during CES 2014 in Las Vegas.
