Samsung Galaxy NX Sample Image Gallery

Be prepared to have the Samsung Galaxy NX knock your socks off! This fully connected camera offers great image quality with the flexibility of interchangeable lenses.

After having the opportunity to see the Samsung Galaxy NX in person before it was even announced to the public, I knew I would be impressed with this camera. (Check out my first look preview of the Samsung Galaxy NX here.) When I originally previewed the camera I was unable to keep any of the images that I had taken, so I had to rely on instantaneous viewing and my own memory to evaluate image sharpness, color quality and overall user experience. At that time I was very happy with the entirety of the camera. Fast forward to the present day...Samsung just sent me the brand new Galaxy NX to review. As soon as I opened the package, I immediately charged the battery and headed outside as soon as I could. The following images are a sampling of what the Samsung Galaxy NX is capable of when only using the included 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens and about 1/2 hour of shooting.

To say I am impressed with the Galaxy NX is putting it mildly. The Galaxy NX fits my hand like a glove, missing only a small thumb rest where the top corner of the LCD screen meets the edge of the camera. The sharpness of the images straight out of camera was way better than I expected for the kit lens. In fact, overall the images were sharper than I have experienced with most mid level DSLR/kit lens combos. I was truly unprepared to be this impressed with such a relatively inexpensive kit lens. The camera was able to produce images that feature great color quality, too. Even indoors, the camera did a very good job with white balance and true color representation.

One of the neatest features--especially for pro photographers--is the ability to add a logo/watermark to your images. I kept the Galaxy NX logo on for these initial images, but I will play with the camera during my in-depth review to see how easy it is to add my own watermark to my images.

The Galaxy NX is a fully connected camera. The camera either uses Wi-Fi, or if you so choose, you can install a SIM card so that it can access a 4G/3G network. I used Wi-Fi since my Galaxy NX did not have a SIM card included. Soon after shooting these first set of images I installed the Facebook app onto the camera and posted 13 images. The whole process was very easy and very fast. It took about 2 seconds or less for each image to upload--although your experience may not be the same if you are in an area with slow internet connection.

So far I love the camera. It is extremely easy and fun to use. I can't wait to spend the next couple of weeks toying with the settings and putting the camera through a myriad of tests.

As always, these sample images are straight out of camera and totally unretouched unless otherwise noted for specific reasons (this is very rare). We believe that the only way to be unbiased about image quality is to present images to our readers that are free of post production editing. Although this leaves our images feeling a bit naked, we are dedicated to showing an honest representation of the camera's native abilities.
