Sigma Announces a Jaw Dropping Price for 18-35mm f/1.8 Lens
by Laura Hicks -  6/14/2013

I am one happy girl! After weeks of speculation about the 18-35mm lens, Sigma has announced the price of the only constant f/1.8 zoom lens on the market and it has me smiling. Starting in early July, Sigma will have their new lens available for only $799! Canon and Sigma mounts will be available first. Nikon, Sony and Pentax mounts will follow soon after.

"Sigma users are really excited about this lens. They've been watching the new Art line very closely -- and their reaction to our initial announcement of this lens has been fantastic," said Mark Amir-Hamzeh, president of Sigma Corporation of America. "More than 50 years of innovating with photography equipment has helped us build new generation lenses like the 18-35mm F1.8. We're confident that photographers who focus on landscape, portrait, still-life, studio, close-up and casual shots will love this lens."

And Mark is right. I had the opportunity to test this lens over the last couple of weeks and I am thrilled with the quality. And, now, I am beyond happy with the price of their new lens. Check out my first impressions of this lens here. Or click here for the initial press release which drew a lot of attention.

One minor problem...since Sigma has announced that the lens will be only $799, it is going to fly off the shelves. Backorders will abound. Frustration may arise. My advice is to pre-order the lens as soon as you read this article if you want to have it in your hands quickly. I know I will!
