Get Your Style On with the Pentax K-50
by Laura Hicks -  6/13/2013

Well hello, beautiful! The Pentax K-50 steps onto the camera scene as one of the most fashion conscious DSLRs ever created. But the successor to the K-30 is more than just a pretty face with 120 trendy body options. The K-50 will offer users a 16-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. It will come with a Prime M image processor and the ability to shoot ISOs up to a whopping 51,200. One of the biggest advantages that the Pentax K-50 has over its competition is the 81 weather seals that make the camera resistant to wet, rainy or snowy conditions. Neither Canon nor Nikon can lay claim to that feature. Another huge advantage is the camera's ability to shoot with shutter speeds of 1/6000th of a second. This will appeal to those photographers that love shooting with wide apertures even in brightly lit conditions. The Pentax K-50's viewfinder has 100% coverage.

Just to add to the already stellar features of the K-50, it also has a built-in shake reduction system, 11-point autofocus and a 3-inch LCD screen with 921,000 dots.

But the K-50 is not just for photographing stills. It has video recording of 1080p at 30 FPS. Check out our recent review of the K-30 here. We were pretty impressed with it and we think you will be too. Our guess is that Pentax will wow us again with the newest upgrade to this camera -- the K-50.

Pentax begs you to take advantage of their Color to Order system which empowers buyers to customize your camera that fits their personality. The K-50 DSLR is available to order today in a choice of 120 color combinations at pentaximaging.com and retail outlets nationwide in July 2013 with a suggested retail price of $699.95 for body only, $779.95 for the kit including DA-L 18-55mm WR lens and $879.95 for the dual lens kit including the DA-L 18-55mm WR and DA-L 50-200mm WR lenses.

Also new to the Pentax DSLR lineup is the K-500, an entry-level camera that expands Pentax's DSLR lineup by including advanced features uncommon to the entry-level class. This DSLR is perfect for casual photographers. The K-500 features a 16 megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor, high ISO up to 51200, 100% field of view, and in-body shake reduction. But for those on the go the best feature of this camera is that it operates on four AA batteries. This means it is very easy to always have your camera charged and ready when the perfect photographic moment occurs. And if you run out of batteries it is as simple as a quick trip to the store to buy more. The K-500 is available starting in July if you order through pentaximaging.com or other retailers. The K-500 will have a suggested retail price of $599.95 for the kit including the DA-L 18-55mm lens and $699.95 for the dual lens kit including the DA-L 18-55mm and DA-L 50-200mm lenses.
