by Laura Hicks -  4/16/2013

It's that time of the year. The time to celebrate the Moms, Dads and Grads in your life. And what better way to commemorate them than with the best cameras on the market? This year we have done all the work for you. Check out our top ultrazoom cameras for your Mom, the best DSLRs for your Dad, the hottest cameras for your grad, and our favorite point and shoots just because we love them!

Top Ultrazoom cameras for your Mom

1.  Nikon P510 - The Nikon Coolpix is primed for action with a 3.0-inch articulated LCD, built-in EVF, 42x optical zoom lens and 1080 HD video recording. It packs in the equivalent of a 1000mm telephoto lens -one of the biggest lenses on the market.
2.  Canon SX50 HS - The SX50 HS is Canon's newest addition to the ultrazoom or "bridge" camera genre. Recently announced, the SX50 HS's claim to fame is its 50x zoom lens. The SX50 HX has a DSLR styled body, 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 5 image processor. The Canon SX50 HS has a lot to offer.
3.  Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V - Although it doesn't have all of the zoom range of the P510, it's 30x optical zoom with Zeiss branding is plenty impressive. It offers GPS tracking, a speedy auto focus system and 1080 HD video recording.

Best DSLR cameras for Dad

1.  Nikon D7100 - The Nikon D7100 is no joke! It has a 24.1megapixel APS-C sensor, 3.2-inch LCD, 51 point autofocus system, weather sealing, dual card slots, and produces great image quality. The D7100 is Nikon's way of showing that APS-C DSLRs still have a place in the world.
2.  Pentax K-5II - What a great alternative to Canon and Nikon. The K-5II is weather sealed to be water resistant and dust proof as well as capable of operation in temperatures down to 14 degrees F. Shutter speed can range from 30 seconds to 1/8000 of a second and in-body stabilization offers up to four stops of shake reduction.
3.  Nikon D800 - Nikon introduces the D800 as the highest megapixel DSLR in their lineup. With an unheard of 36.3MP FX-format CMOS sensor, we are surprised the pixels aren't falling off the sensor. Priced at a mere $2800, this camera makes us wonder if medium format digital camera companies are getting a little worried.

Hottest cameras for your grad

1.  Sony RX100 - The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100, at first sight, might look like just another point and shoot. But with a newly designed sensor that boasts a robust 20.2 million pixels the RX100 is out to prove it can makes its way to the top of the charts.
2.  Olympus OM-D EM-5 - The Olympus E-M5 is  likely to please photographers of any skill level. OM-D system is a fusion of PEN and DSLR technology and features. The E-M5 features a new live MOS sensor with 16 MP resolution, a TruePic VI processor, dust and splash proof weather sealing, and five-axis image stabilization.
3.  Fuji X20 - The new Fuji X20 comes equipped with an advanced 12MP 2/3 inch X-Trans CMOS II Sensor and the EXR Processor II to deliver the world's fastest autofocus speeds in its class. The X20 also receives an advanced optical viewfinder and an AF system that allows for either phase or contrast detection to achieve the best image.

Top Point and Shoots - because we love them

1.  Canon G15 - The G15 offers a 5x zoom with a fast f/1.8 - f/2.8 lens and a 12.1 MP CMOS sensor with the DIGIC 5 Image Processor. It offers fantastic image quality, a new dual axis electronic level, plus video capture in 1080p Full HD. The full review will be available soon, but to give you a heads-up...this is my favorite point and shoot ever!
2.  Samsung EX2F - The 12 megapixel Samsung EX2F is a well built imaging tool that was obviously designed for serious photographers. It is a small "retro" looking little camera - the EX2F is slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor.  The EX2F features dust/moisture seals and a functional handgrip which provides better stability and handling.
3.  Samsung Galaxy Camera - The Samsung Galaxy Camera can be called nothing less than a showstopper. From the crisp, white exterior to the huge 4.77-inch Super Clear Touch Display this camera has the looks of a supermodel and the brains of an engineer.
