Nik Collection by Google: Exceeding Expectations
by Laura Hicks -  3/26/2013

It's a rare occurrence that a company gives you more than you expect. Well, the Google+ Photo team has done exactly that. They just announced that they are offering the Nik Collection by Google, a complete set of Nik plug-ins for Photoshop, Lightroom and Aperture, for only $149.

If you are not familiar with the Nik plug-ins you don't know what you are missing. The collection consists of 6 photo editing plug-ins including HDR Efex Pro 2, Silver Efex Pro 2, Sharpener Pro 3, Color Efex Pro 4, Viveza 2 and Dfine 2. The photo editing plug-ins can be used in Lightroom, Photoshop and Aperture. You can select the Silver Efex plug-in to professionally create and adjust black-and-white images. Sharpener Pro allows you to bring out the details in an image by easily fine-tuning the sharpness of an image. Viveza can be used to selectively correct the color and tonality of your images. (I've been using Viveza since the first generation of this plug-in was released.)

Here's the best part...if you have never used the software before, you can go to niksoftware.com for a free 15 day trial to see if you like the software. Or, if you have already purchased one or more of the Nik plug-ins in the past, then Google is going to upgrade the entire Nik Collection of plug-ins by Google for FREE. You will be notified by email in the next few days with a set of instructions.

Google knows that you are going to love your images after using the Nik Collection, so they want you to share them with the Google+ community. All you have to do is tag your pictures with #nikcollection and they will re-share their favorites on the Google+ page.

Happy photographing! Have fun with your images.
