PocketWizard Adds Budget Friendly Model
by Laura Hicks -  3/1/2013

Available immediately, the PocketWizard PlusX auto-sensing transceiver offers users the same great quality at a less expensive price point.

"The new PlusX transceiver adds to the legendary Plus reliability that so many photographers have come to trust on all their photographic assignments," said Dave Schmidt, Vice President of Marketing at LPA Design, the company that manufacturers PocketWizard Photo Products. "Working on a budget should not mean sacrificing performance or reliability."

Simplistic in design, the Plus X is a direct response to consumer requests for a budget friendly transceiver from PocketWizard. The PlusX uses PocketWizard's auto-sensing technology which allows the unit to switch back and forth between being a transmitter and a receiver. Working off of one of 10 channels, the photographer can easily have their own channel when working along side other photographers at busy events. Yet, when desired, the PlusX can be set to transmit only. An external antenna is present, but encased in order to protect from being destroyed with repeated use. The height of the antenna is 4.2 inches and weighs less than 4 ounces, including the battery.

The PlusX syncs at speeds of 1/250 second for focal plane shutters and 1/500 second for leaf shutters. It has a huge range of 1600 feet and typical battery life is 100 hours with alkaline batteries.

The PocketWizard PlusX is available immediately for $99.
