Flickr Enables Larger Image Sizes
by Allison Johnson -  5/3/2012

To keep pace with larger and higher-resolution monitors, photo sharing site flickr has enabled two new image display sizes. Photos can now be viewed in the lightbox at 2048 and 1600 resolutions. Additionally, users who subscribe to flickr's Pro version now have the ability to cap maximum image size. These users can upload a file at its original resolution and place a cap on the maximum resolution available to the viewer.

The more traditional photo sharer flickr is certainly seeing some steep competition from the likes of new platforms like Instagram. Today's updates mark an effort to stay in pace with the needs of pro photographers, listening to concerns about image theft and keeping up with increasing monitor resolutions.
