Adobe announces free applications for Photoshop
by Andy Stanton -  8/25/2010

Adobe has announced the immediate availability, at no cost, of redesigned versions of three integrated online applications for Photoshop. The three applications, Photoshop Express Editor, Photoshop Express Organizer, and Photoshop Express Uploader, make it easy to edit, organize, sync and share photos. They also integrate with Adobe's recently released Photoshop Express applications for iPad, iPhone and Android devices, so users can interact with their photos anywhere they happen to be.

Photoshop Express Editor allows the user to fix photos by cropping, straightening, adjusting color and touching up imperfections. It also provides creativity tools such as filters for soft focus and sketch, effects such as pop color and distortion, and the ability to add text and frames. The Editor no longer requires registration, which means the online editor is available to anyone who visits the Photoshop website. The Editor also now supports the ability to upload directly from a hard drive, apply edits, filters and effects, and save the results back to the hard drive, without replacing the original.

The revised Photoshop Express Organizer is faster and more streamlined and also includes new slideshow functionality that's more intuitive and customizable. Users can quickly apply the new Midnight slideshow theme to an album and display it onscreen. Additional presentation themes are available for purchase and can be previewed.

The Photoshop Express Uploader is a small client application that installs on the user's desktop and streamlines uploading and syncing photos between their hard drives and Photoshop.com. The Uploader handles JPEG and PSD files, and a wide variety of RAW formats.

In addition to the redesigned Photoshop Express applications, the Photoshop website introduces updated site navigation to provide customers with easier access to tutorials, product information, the online Photoshop Express tools, and their personal information. Customers can even share other content on the site with Twitter and Facebook.

Adobe has also announced the free Photoshop Express 1.3 for Android devices. This new version now lets users play back videos from their Photoshop.com online library, even in slideshow mode, and share videos in email. The Facebook Photo Upload feature also includes several performance improvements.
