Olympus Announces PEN Your Story Challenge
by Andy Stanton -  5/3/2010

Olympus Imaging America Inc., has announced a contest entitled “PEN Your Story Challenge” in which contestants submit a YouTube video proposal to respond to the following question: “What would you do if you had the brand-new Olympus PEN E-PL1 and $5,000 to bring your creative vision to life?”

The E-PL1 is Olympus’s newest release in its Micro Four Thirds series of small digital cameras. The heart of the PEN E-PL1 is its 12.3 megapixel 4/3 inch sensor. Its features include an interchangeable lens system, HD movie ability, art filters for special effects, a multiple exposure mode and a user-friendly Live Guide interface.

Submitted videos can be about anything that you could produce with the PEN E-PL1 and $5,000 budget. After the proposal submissions have been narrowed down to 20 semi-finalists selected by the YouTube community, six of the best proposals will be selected by a panel of judges from Olympus, as well as the YouTube community. Those six individuals will receive the PEN E-PL1, the funds and time to bring their proposals to life.

Once the six finalists have uploaded their final creations to YouTube, the Grand Prize winner will be selected based on a combination of popular vote and the panel of Olympus judges. The Grand Prize winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to New York City to attend the Olympus-sponsored U.S. Open Tennis Championships on Olympus Day. The winner’s work will be displayed on the giant video board at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center before an audience of thousands.

Olympus has provided a video to explain more details. For more information about the PEN E-PL1, visit the Olympus website.
