If you're looking to buy a Canon lens or flash unit between now and the first of the year, Canon's offering a promotion that may make doing so a little easier on your wallet.

Launched yesterday and running through January 17, 2009, the new rebate program offers instant savings on Canon glass. The promotion provides rebates of up to $125 on a long list of Canon L telephotos, as well as some nice discounts on macro glass and a $50 price reduction on the new EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 "superzoom" lens.

Under the same program, Canon is also providing rebates of up to $50 on its current range of Speedlite flashguns.
