The Kodak EasyShare Z1012 IS appeals to me as a nice camera – a long zoom, good sensor resolution, and an SLR-like size/feel. So what's not to like?
The answer seems to be "everything else." In spite of a good specs sheet, I have to say that I have been disappointed by this camera. Though there hasn't been anything drastically wrong, it feels that too many minor annoyance are beginning to add up.
Admittedly, from the Z1012 have been mostly good. For most users, however, a camera is about more than just the pictures it takes: it's about the whole use experience, and in this regard the Z1012 doesn't consistently impress.
Problems with the lens cap, buttons, menus, and more top the list, making the Z1012 a reasonably capable camera let down by lots of irritations.
In the final review I will explore these concerns in more depth, but for now I'm left feeling like this camera just needs some more work on the details.
