by David Rasnake -  1/9/2008

On Monday, Kodak announced several additions to its M-line of compact digital cameras. The EasyShare M763, M863, M893 IS, and flagship M1033 offer fun and stylish colors, compact designs, and easy-to-use HD still and video capture modes.

EasyShare M1033

The 10-megapixel M1033 features a 3x Kodak Retinar zoom and 3-inch wide view-angle LCD screen.

The sculpted M1033, which comes in several unique colors clearly aimed at targeting a slightly more mature market than many low-cost compacts, boasts Smart Capture technology, an intelligent scene detection mode that automatically analyzes scene conditions and selects an appropriate shooting mode. Other specs include ISO sensitivity up to 3200, several scene modes, face detection technology, and in-camera effects.

The M1033 is equipped with HD picture and video capture functions, allowing users to capture images and movies that are optimized for playback on HDTVs.

The M1033 will be available in the next few months for a list price of $199.

EasyShare M893 IS

The 8.1-megapixel EasyShare M893 IS offers true optical image stabilization in addition to a 3x lens and 2.7-inch LCD. ISO 1600, face detection, 32MB of internal memory, and a multimedia slide show mode round out the package.

An accessory HD dock allows users to view photos and videos taken with the M893 IS on their HDTVs.

Look for the M893 IS in April, with a retail price of $179.

EasyShare M863 and M763

The 8.2-megapixel M863 and 7.0-megapixel M763 offer the same basic feature set seen on the M893 IS: 3x lens, 2.7-inch LCD, high sensitivity to ISO 1600, and face detection technology.

Both cameras will be out next month, with suggested prices of $149 (M863) and $129 (M763).
