Nikon Inc. Appoints New President and CEO

Nikon Inc. has appointed Yasuyuki Okamoto as president and CEO. In his new post, he'll be working to keep Nikon's momentum going in the Americas.

Mr. Okamoto has been in the Nikon organization for 29 years. Prior to this he has held several management positions in Nikon's Japan headquarters. Most recently, he was general manager and operating officer at the Marketing headquarters for the Imaging Company at Nikon Corporation.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Firmware Update

Canon released a new version of firmware for the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi (version 1.1.1.1). Most people can probably skip the upgrade since it really just gives you these fixes and improvements:

  1. Adds detailed information about three new lenses.
  2. Polish has been added as a new display language in the menu screens.
