Casio Exilim EX-Z75 and Exilim EX-Z1050 Digital Cameras Announced
by Ben Stafford -  1/29/2007

Today, Casio is announcing the Exilim EX-Z75 and Exilim EX-Z1050 digital cameras. As you can surmise from the model names, the Z75 is an update to the Z70 and the Z1050 is an update to the Z1000. The 7.2 megapixel Z75 offers a 2.6 inch wide LCD and 3x optical zoom. The 10.1 megapixel Z1050 also offers the 2.6 inch wide LCD and a 3x optical zoom. Both cameras will be available in four colors: pink, blue, black and silver. Both cameras will be available in March, with the Z75 retailng for $229 and the Z1050 retailing for $299.

The most obvious upgrade that these two cameras add to their predecessors is the 2.6 inch, wide format LCD. Casio's use of the wide screen is nice, since it allows easy viewing of the camera settings on the right hand side of the screen. This method was first seen on the Casio Exilim EX-S770 (although it has a larger 2.8 inch screen).

The EX-Z1050 features a new Exilim Engine 2.0 (as seen on the new Casio V7) imaging processor that allows some new features, like "motion analysis technology". The camera can detect the speed and direction of a subject to set the ISO accordingly and a motion tracking AF that attempts to keep a moving subject in focus.

Besides the above upgrades, the Z75 and Z1050 feature the same capture resolution and optical zooms of their predecessors.
