Ricoh Imaging is serving up some “sweet” new cameras with names that make the taste buds go into overdrive: Strawberry Cake, Blue Cream Soda, and Lime Pie. Before you assume the makers of Pentax have decided to go into the confectionary biz, they haven’t. These are simply the names for a new lineup of body colors for the already-popular Pentax K-S1.
Launched in September, the Pentax K-S1 is still so brand new many may not have had an opportunity to take a closer look. Holdouts not enticed by the original’s all-white appearance may well decide to spring for any of the new three colors being rolled out as part of the “Sweets Collection.”
The good news for serious photographers the new Ricoh Imaging snappers appear to be serious business under the hood. According to an official press release, the cameras will include an optical viewfinder, a top sensitivity of ISO 51200, and an “innovative illumination interface system” that turns the LED power switch to green during still shots and red during video filming.
Also included is a new CMOS sensor offering about 20.12 megapixels, a three-inch high res LCD monitor, an improved GUI that Pentax claims ranks high in ease-of-use, and high-speed shooting at 5.4 images per second.
According to Ricoh Imaging, the new fashion-conscious camera lineup with arrive mid-November with sticker prices to match the standard KS-1: around $700.
