Sony Set to Unveil Perfume Bottle Selfie Cam
In response to the apparent demand for more selfie-enabling tools, and adding to the growing list of already existing products like the selfie stick and the Samsung smartphone’s “beauty face” mode, Sony is reportedly planning the release of a line of selfie cams made in the shape of perfume bottles.
And why not? Apparently, smartphone cases shaped like perfume bottles are a big thing in China and Sony is seizing on that trend by developing a Cyber-shot compact camera it intends to market directly to those seeking new and interesting ways of taking self-portrait snapshots. Some reports indicate the camera may also include Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, suggesting additional functionality beyond simple point-and-shoot capability.
Rumors that the planned perfume bottle selfie cam will also come with a rotatable lens indicates a variety of potential “other” uses for the technology, including the ability to take surreptitious snapshots of others and leading to the very likely possibility that anyone wielding a perfume bottle in public in the future may be instantly flagged as an undercover agent.
Official announcement of release and availability is expected to be made on August 22.
