Today Sony announced a new music video recorder with great video quality and sound that will impress. The new Sony MV1 is a small hand-held recorder that features Full 1920×1080/30p HD video recording by way of its BSI Exmor R CMOS sensor. The camera has Carl Zeiss optics that feature a 120 degree viewing area. The camera has Audio Lip Sync, a feature that ensures that music and video are precisely matched. The MV1 has a 2.7-inch LCD screen and also offers manual or auto audio level controls. An on-screen meter monitors audio input levels and allows users to modify them as needed. The camera records audio with its 120-degree X-Y stereo microphone. In addition, external mics or instruments can be directly connected to the device.

The MV1 has built-in Wi-Fi/NFC and works seamlessly with Sony’s PlayMemories App. This app lets users upload content easily to a smartphone or tablet. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.

First Impression
I was more impressed with the MV1 than I ever dreamed I would be. The sound quality from the video camera was great and the video produced was high quality. The device is slim and highly portable–weighing very little. This device can easly be toted around in an instrument’s case, in a purse, or even in a large pocket. If you are a band, singer or musical artist on a budget, this could be a great video recorder for getting your music seen on sites like YouTube or just uploading videos to Facebook.

The MV1 will be available in December for $300.
