Samsung today adds the TL210 and TL205 to their unique DualView line. The new cameras add a couple of new features to the already feature-rich DualView series, and like the TL220 and TL225 they feature a secondary 1.5 inch display on the front panel.

The first DualView cameras, subjects of a sweeping ad campaign, were the first to put an LCD on the front and back panel of a camera. The idea is to give the subject in front of the camera something to look at as the photo is being taken – for those interested in updating their Facebook page with a new self-portrait, the front LCD can display a live view image of how the captured photo will look. Parents of small children could utilize the screen to display a colorful image to capture the subject’s attention.

The TL210 and TL205 stick with what worked in the first generation, and they add a couple of enhancements to the front LCD’s functionality. First, the new cameras will employ a self-timer in movie recording mode as well as for still photography. Child mode will now play music as well as display images.

The Smile Shot feature is back, which automatically captures an image when a smile is detected on the subject’s face. Couple Shot, new to the TL210 and TL205, takes that function one step further. With this feature, the camera will record an image when the two subjects in the frame tilt their heads toward each other.

Starting at a 27mm wide angle, the DualView TL210 features a 5x optical zoom lens paired with Samsung’s Dual IS optical/digital image stabilization. It’s also loaded with a 12.4 megapixel sensor and will record 720p HD video at 30 fps.

The TL205’s lens won’t reach out quite as far at 3x, and the LCD is a smaller 2.7 inches. It features a 12.2 megapixel sensor and will record video in standard 640×480 definition. With a shorter optical zoom, the TL205 doesn’t incorporate any form of optical or mechanical image stabilization.
