The U.K.’s PhotographyBlog.com is reporting that Ricoh has announced a new 10 megapixel advanced compact, the Ricoh R10.
Building on the basic platform laid out in the R8, the R10 features a 3-inch LCD, Smooth Imaging Engine III processing, and a 7.1x, 28-200mm zoom lens.
A complete run-down of basic specs is available on Ricoh’s website.
It’s not clear who will get the new R10, or at what price. According to the PhotographyBlog article, the R10 is bound only for the Japanese market at the moment.
Tokyo-based Ricoh hasn’t been a huge player in the American market, with only two dealers handling U.S. sales, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for any additional info on when or if we might see this interesting compact in stores a little closer to home.
