Prepare to Get Your Dive On with the 360fly

There’s a new action cam in town, and its name is 360fly. Not only does it capture the exploits of rugged adventurists in 360 degrees, but it’s also reportedly waterproof up to depths of 164 feet, begging the question of anyone interested in testing it out: How long can you hold your breath?

Boasting a fisheye lens with “the widest field of view on the market,” the new 360fly single-lens camera can capture horizontal views of 360 degrees and vertical views of 240 degrees. It’s equipped with a vertical f/2.5 lens, a microphone, and a 1,504 x 1,504 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. Internal memory is said to top out at 16 GB, and transfers will take place via Wi-Fi.

Created by EyeSee360, the 350fly can be remotely controlled by way of an app on iOS 8 or Android 4.3+ devices equipped with Bluetooth LE. Swipe video editing will also be enabled by the application. Lightweight and durable, the camera is said to be capable of holding a charge for up to two full hours, barely tipping the scales at 0.3 pounds, all the better to sit on its tilt mount and barely be noticed by its wearers.

No pricing or release date information is available as of yet. The FCC has only recently given its official blessing to the camera. Stay tuned for further updates as more information comes available. In the meantime, action cam enthusiasts are free to begin mapping out their adventures.
