Pentax introduces two new Optio cameras today, the 10x zoom RZ10 and the unique cosmetically customizable RS1000 with interchangeable faceplates.
Pentax Optio RS1000
The Optio RS1000 is uniquely customizable. The camera’s faceplate is removable and can be interchanged with one of 11 skins shipped with the product or a user-created faceplate from SkinIt.com with an included gift card. A free program from Pentax will be available to download for help in creating a custom faceplate.
Some of the more run-of-the-mill features include a 4x optical zoom, 3.0-inch 230k-dot LCD, 14 megapixel sensor and 720p HD video recording. The RS1000 is equipped with digital-only image stabilization and 15 automatic shooting modes.
Pentax Optio RZ10
The Optio RZ10 doesn’t have the flashy faceplates of the RZ10, but it does pack an impressive 10x optical zoom ranging from an equivalent 28-280mm. It uses sensor-shift image stabilization and Pixel Track SR shake reduction. The RZ10 has a 14 megapixel sensor, face detection and Pet mode features, and a 2.7-inch LCD of 230k-dot resolution.
Reduced resolution burst shooting will yield up to 40 images at a top speed of 9.1 fps. Pentax’s digital art filters like Toy Camera and Retro are present.
Pricing and availability
The Pentax Optio RS1000 will be available in October with an MSRP of $149.99. The Optio RZ10 will also ship in October, costing $219.95.
