Announced soon after CES 2012, the Pentax K-01 mirrorless camera and WG-2 GPS compact ship today to consumers in North America. The K-01 is most notable for a unique design with retro touches, a 16 meagapixel APS-C sensor and compatibility with Pentax K-mount lenses. It is introduced with a newly designed 40mm so-thin-it’s-barely-there lens.

The Optio WG-2 GPS (and non-GPS enabled WG-2) is waterproof to 40 feet and freezeproof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s an update to Pentax’s WG-1, keeping the unique LED macro lights around the lens and updating the camera to 1080 HD video. The WG-2 GPS is offered at $399.95 and the WG-2 without GPS will cost $349.95. The Pentax K-01 body-only will retail for $749.95 body-only and $899.95 bundled with the 40mm kit lens.
