Coinciding with the announcement of two new G series Micro Four Thirds cameras, Panasonic announces today a new G series 14-42mm standard zoom lens. The Lumix G Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH/Mega O.I.S. lens is being offered as a lightweight zoom lens built to suit the compact G system. The new 14-42mm lens will be sold as part of a kit with both the Lumix DMC-G10 and Lumix DMC-G2.

The lens features a minimum focus distance of 30cm at full zoom. Panasonic includes their Mega O.I.S. stabilization system in an effort to reduce blur in photos. Other features include a seven-blade aperture, support for G system high-speed auto focus, and mutli-coated lens elements to further reduce blur.
