Panasonic launches two basic point-and-shoots for photographers who want to get images and video online quickly.
The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-S3 and S1 will feature 28mm wide angle 4x optical zoom lenses, 720p HD video recording and a new compact design. Users will be able to share photos and videos on Facebook and YouTube by connecting the camera to a computer and following on-screen prompts without downloading additional software.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-S3
The Lumix S3 will offer a 14.1 megapixel sensor, its primary distinction from the S1. Like the S1, it will feature face detection technology, optical image stabilization and automatic scene selection.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-S1
The 12.1 megapixel S1 and the S3 will use the current Venus Engine VI image processor. Both cameras will offer a 2.7-inch LCD with automatic brightness adjustment and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
Pricing and availability
The Lumix S3 will be available in blue, red, black and violet and the S1 will be offered in silver, blue, black, pink and gold. Panasonic has not announced pricing at this time and plans to release those details 30 days before the cameras are shipped.
