Rounding out a batch of new camera launches this morning, Panasonic announces the Lumix DMC-FX700. Unlike any other camera they’ve taken the wraps off of today, it will feature a 3.0-inch touch screen.

Also incorporated into the FX700’s slim design is a 5x optical zoom lens covering a focal range equivalent to 24-120mm. The Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens will feature a maximum aperture of f/2.2. The system is stabilized by Panasonic’s Power O.I.S. optical image stabilization.

The 14.1 megapixel MOS sensor on board the FX700 will record 1080 HD videos at 60i in AVCHD format. Motion JPEG files can also be recorded at 720p. The FX700’s 3.0-inch 230k-dot touch screen will support touch AF selection and the camera will track a moving subject throughout the frame.

A new Handheld Night Shot mode will capture 10 consecutive shots and automatically select the better shot. Motion Deblur is another new mode, and it’s designed to utilize the highest possible shutter speed in a situation that could potentially create blurry images.

Pricing and availability
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 will be available in black for an MSRP of $399.95 beginning in late August.
