Olympus Unveils TG-630 at CES 2013

The third and final new “Rugged” camera announcement from Olympus is the TG-630. This camera is being coined the “lifeproof” camera. Similar to the TG-830, the TG-630 is waterproof to 33 feet, shockproof to 6.6 feet, freezeproof, and dustproof. It offers users a 12 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and a TruePic VI Image Processor. The camera also comes in 4 colors: red, blue, silver and graphite.

The TG-830 has some of the same features as the 830 – the hand-held starlight, the HDR backlight, Smart Panorama, and High-Speed Sequential Shooting. In addition, the 630 has Magic Art Filters and a Beauty Makeup feature. A 5x or 10SR zoom allows for getting close to the action while the 3 inch LCD screen with 460k dots make viewing your images a breeze. The TG-630 offers full HD video capabilities.

Upgrades from the previous version include an AF illuminator and a front metal plate for increased durability.

The TG-630 will be available in the spring or summer of 2013 for a retail price of $200.
