Olympus SP-560 UZ Announced

by Reads (1)

The new Olympus SP-560 UZ still gets the wide angle capable, 18x optical zoom lens that we saw on its predecessor, the SP-550 UZ and then it gets some new features made possible with new TruePic III processor. Some of the new features include Shadow Adjustment Technology, Perfect Shot Preview, Perfect Fix, and face detection AF and AE. The SP-560 UZ will be available in October 2007 for $450.

The face detection system provides face detection AF and AE, meaning that you get focus and exposure correct on the faces in your shot. Perfect Shot Preview lets you preview possible settings differences (zoom, exposure compensation, white balance, etc) in multiple frames on the LCD and pick the frame that you think looks best. Perfect Fix can apply Digital Image Stabilization Edit, Lighting Fix, and Red-eye Fix. Shadow Adjustment Technology helps correct lighting in harshly lit scenes.

To enable those long zoom shots, the SP-560 UZ features Dual Image Stabilization, which consists of a mechanical, sensor-shift mechanism to counteract hand shake in combination with digital image stabilization.
