Nikon Coolpix L610 Budget Zoom Gets BSI CMOS, Full HD Video

The Nikon Coolpix L610 boasts a more compact footprint than other currently available L-series Coolpix zoom cameras. It’s a compact ultrazoom with a 14x lens and a 3.0-inch LCD. With a 16 megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor, it’s capable of 1080 HD video. The camera is powered by AA batteries.

The L610 doesn’t carry the same big-zoom firepower as its P510 sibling. Rather, it’s a more affordable and portable option. Some care has been taken with the camera’s 25-350mm equivalent lens – it incorporates two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements to boost sharpness and reduce chromatic aberration. Macro shooting starts as close as 1cm from your subject, and lens-shift image stabilization is on board to help combat camera shake.

Pricing and Availability
The Nikon Coolpix L610 will arrive in September with an estimated price of $249.95.
