Nikon Announces the new Coolpix AW120 and S32 Waterproof Cameras

Today, Nikon announced two new rugged waterproof and shockproof cameras, the Coolpix AW120 and S32.

First, we will start with the AW120. The COOLPIX AW120 features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor with a 5x (24-120mm) optical zoom lens (up to 10x with Dynamic Fine Zoom). The camera offers an f/2.8 maximum aperture (wide angle) and can shoot nearly 6.9 frames per second (fps) in continuous shooting mode. This camera is waterproof (up to 59 feet), shockproof (up to 6.6 feet) and freezeproof (down to 14°F). The AW120 has a 3.0-inch high-resolution OLED screen for viewing in bright sunlight. The camera has the ability to shoot both still and video. Video is recorded at Full HD 1080/60i. The AW120 is equipped with GPS technology and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. 

Nikon is also announcing a new chest harness that can be used with the AW120. In addition to the harness, Nikon has an optional silicone jackets for the AW120. The silicone jackets will be available in Black, Orange, Blue and Khaki. 

The COOLPIX AW120 will be available in March 2014 in Orange, Blue, Black and Camouflage for $349.95.

The second rugged camera unveiled today is the Coolpix S32. This camera is being marketed as “…a fun and durable compact camera that practically anyone in the household can use.” The S32 has a 13.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and 3x optical zoom. This camera is waterproof (up to 33 feet) and shockproof (up to 5 feet). The S32 has a 2.7-inch LCD display that displays in-camera slideshow, if desired. The camera can record movies in Full HD (1080p). The S32 also includes creative features like Motion Detection, Smart Portrait System, Scene Modes, and Effects.

The Coolpix S32 will be in available in March 2014 in White and Blue for the suggested price of $129.95.
