New Epson Artisan printer line announced

Epson announced the brand new Artisan line of All-In-One Inkjet printers last week. The “flagship” line features the Artisan 800 and Artisan 700 printers; both are small in size but big on options, including Wi-Fi, Ultra Hi-Definition Claria ink, auto photo correction, fast printing speeds, and stand-alone copy/print/scan capabilities.

The Artisan 800 is considered the premium printer in the line and boasts 4800 dpi resolution. Options only on the 800 include fax, automatic document feeder, and a large 3.5-inch LCD.

The Artisan 700 is smaller and less expensive with a resolution of 2400 dpi and a 2.5-inch LCD. But like the 800, it can be used via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, prints borderless photos, and switches between plain and photo paper at a push of a button.

Both printers feature six-color Ultra Hi-Definition Claria individual ink tanks and Epson’s MicroPiezo print head with DX5 technology as well as fast printing speeds. The printers clock in at 10 seconds per 4 x 6 print, 50 seconds per 8 x 10 print, and they can pump out 38 pages per minute.

The Artisan models with be available in September 2008. The retail value of the Artisan 800 is $299.99; the Artisan 700 is priced at $199.99.
