Kodak Bows Out of Digital Camera, Camcorder, Photo Frame Market

by Reads (45)

It looks like EasyShare cameras are no more. Kodak reps announce today that production of digital cameras, camcorders and digital photo frames will cease in an effort to save money and cut losses. Retail and online photo printing and desktop printers are safe, according to a statement on Kodak’s website. The same statement reveals that products launched by Kodak at CES (such as the PlayFull Dual camcorder that we previewed here) will likely never see the light of day.

The Kodak reps we spoke to at this year’s CES gave no indication that there was a plan in the works to stop digital camera and camcorder production. “We will continue to honor our plans and our published marketing programs,” we were told. Still, Kodak maintains that all current warranties will be honored, and technical support will still be offered to existing customers.
