Watch out Kodak and Panasonic, now JVC has the touch. The Everio maker today unveiled two new pocket HD camcorders, the Picsio GC-WP10 and Picsio GC-FM2, both featuring a 3.0-inch touchscreen display. In addition, the WP10 is waterproof in up to 10 feet of water.
The Picsios have a CMOS image sensor that takes 5 megapixel stills natively. As for recording, the PICSIOs shoot full HD in 1920x1080p at 30 fps. Other resolutions include 720/60p (1280×720), and 720/30p (960×540) and what the company calls “Quarter HD” (960×540 at 30fps).
The camcorders also feature time-lapse recording and a touchscreen that users can operate while wearing gloves. The camcorders have an SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot, HDMI port, 4x digital zoom, slide-out USB port, and the WP10 has an MP3 stereo audio recorder. There is no internal storage available.
The pocket camcorders will ship with a USB cable, AC adapter, and LoiLoScope EX for Windows software, which is not Mac compatible. Apple users will have to rely on iMovie.
Pricing and availability
Both the FM2 and WP10 will hit the market in September, priced $180 and $200 respectively.
