Fuji has announced a new waterproof digital camera, the FinePix XP170, which combines rugged protection and durability with a wireless function that allows users to wirelessly connect to their smartphone or tablet and then upload images to the internet for Fujifilm XP170online sharing. The FinePix XP170 is waterproof to 33 feet (10M), shockproof to enable it to survive a 6.5 foot (2M) drop, freeze proof to 14°F (-10°C) and dustproof. Once Fuji’s wireless software is loaded onto a smartphone or tablet, users will be able to wirelessly transfer photos or movies for uploading to social networking sites.

The FinePix XP170 features a 14 megapixel CMOS sensor for faster performance and better low light shooting than standard CCD sensors. It has a 2.7-inch anti-reflective, high-contrast LCD and a 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens (28-140mm) with a reinforced hardened glass lens barrier and water repellent coating. It contains a sensor-shift optical image stabilization system which aids low light capability. The camera can shoot up to 10 frames per second in continuous shooting mode and can record movies in full 1080p HD at 30 frames per second.  Other features include tracking auto focus to track fast moving subjects, 360° auto-panorama for easy creation of panorama images, scene recognition auto which automatically selects the proper scene mode to use, face detection and automatic red-eye removal.

Pricing and Availability
The FinePix XP170 will be available in June 2012 for $279.95. It will be offered in blue and orange.
