Canon is bringing a new large-format printer to market: the 24-inch Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6000S.
Designed for professional photography and commercial printing applications, the latest S-series model employs the same eight-color LUCIA ink system used by its siblings. Speed is a key benefit of the new model, with the iPF6000S claiming a four-minute print time for a glossy color A1 print (roughly 24 by 33 inches) at 1200×2400 dpi.
The iPF6000S, which prints from either cut sheets or roll feed, utilizes two printheads with a total of 30,720 nozzles. The new model includes several workflow-oriented features as well: a built-in calibration system provides consistent print color and quality, as do Canon’s recently revamped ICC profiles for the line. An 80GB internal hard drive can be used to save projects for quick reprinting later.
Better integration with Microsoft products is provided via a dedicated console designed to simplify large-format printing from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and as expected, the iPF6000S features a print plug-in exclusively for Photoshop integration.
A Monitor Match function allows prints to be directly matched to the output of calibrated sRGB or Adobe RGB displays and is able to account for “nearly any lighting condition” according to Canon.
The iPF6000S is already shipping and should be available immediately through Canon’s dealer network. MSRP for the pro-grade device is $3,295.
