Adobe has just made available a free download of their updated Photoshop Camera Raw 5.4 program. As a release candidate, this isn’t a finalized product, but extends raw support to some of the newest DSLRs including the Canon Rebel T1i and the Nikon D5000.

In total, this update will bring support for raw files to 26 cameras. By offering photographers the option to process their photos in raw format, Adobe puts more artistic control in the hands of its users.

Existing users of Photoshop CS4, Photoshop Elements 7, Premiere Elements 7 and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac can download the program from Adobe’s website. In order to finalize the software, those who choose to download the release candidate are invited to share their feedback on an Adobe User Forum.
