In the quiet after the storm of new camera announcements last week, Samsung has introduced the TL320. Billed as the first digital camera to feature an AMOLED display with HVGA resolution, the 12.2 megapixel TL320 ultracompact also offers a 5x wide angle lens, manual exposure controls, and retro styling.
The Canon PowerShot SD780 IS was just announced on Tuesday, but Canon's rapid-fire shipping department had a production-ready review unit in our waiting hands yesterday afternoon. The 12.1 megapixel, 3x zoom SD780 is touted as the smallest Canon Digital ELPH today, but is smaller really better in this case?
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S980 debuted earlier this week in a flurry of pre-PMA camera announcements. It's a basic point-and-shoot, but Sony has managed to equip it with a couple of user-friendly tech goodies and a sizable 12.1 megapixel sensor.
The affordable Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS, thin and stylish SD 780 IS, and flagship SD960 IS and SD970 IS models update several popular ultracompacts in Canon's Digital ELPH series. Key upgrades include higher-resolution sensors, DIGIC IV processing across the board, and 720p HD video capture in most models.
In anticipation of PMA, Samsung has updated its SL series of point-and-shoot models to include four new offerings: the wide-angle, HD-video ready Samsung SL820, the premium Samsung SL620, and the budget-friendly Samsung SL202 and SL30.
The Cyber-shot DSC-T90 and DSC-T900 offer style and technology updates to the T70 and T700. Look for more megapixels, HD movie mode, and some new technology in the latest models from Sony. And, of course, the chic, ultra-slim design that the T series is known for.
It seems that a 10.0 megapixel point-and-shoot just won't cut it anymore: in their pre-PMA camera announcements, Sony unveiled the Cyber-shot DSC-W230 and DSC-W290 models, both sporting 12.1 megapixel sensors.
Fujifilm has announced the first waterproof addition to its family of stylish point-and-shoot cameras, the FinePix Z33WP. Boldly styled to match its Z-series counterparts and attractively priced under $200, Fuji is betting vacationers will flock to the Z33WP's "go anywhere" versatility.
In their round of pre-PMA announcements, Fujifilm has unveiled the FinePix J20, FinePix J250, and Z30 FinePix ultracompact cameras.
The touch screen Nikon Coolpix S230 and compact, 7x zoom Nikon Coolpix S630 were the headline-grabbing launches from among four new additions - the S630, S620, S230, and S220 models - to Nikon's Coolpix Style line announced this evening.
Panasonic took the wraps off two new FX cameras this morning: the ultracompact Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX48, and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX580 touch screen model. Both cameras offer 12.1 megapixel resolution, 5x Leica lenses with 25mm wide-angle coverage, HD video shooting, and Panasonic's new Face Recognition system.
We were disappointed that Panasonic didn't have any news to share with the world at last week's Consumer Electronics Show, but the company has rectified that situation this morning with the launch of two new Lumix FS models: the 12.1 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15 and 10.1 megapixel DMC-FS7.
