Manufacturers are gearing up for the holiday and trade show season with plenty of updates to their existing lines. Fujifilm today has announced the successor to their Finepix S9000 digital camera. The enthusiast oriented Fujifilm Finepix S9100 features a 9 megapixel Super CCD sensor, 10.7x optical zoom, and the ability to shoot at ISO 80-1600. Look for the S9100 in September for $599.
Canon has added three new cameras to their Powershot "A" line of digital cameras, named for their use of AA batteries. The Canon Powershot A710 IS features image stabilization and more resolution than it's younger sibling, the A700. To replace the A620 and A610 models, that have flip-out, rotating LCDs, Canon has introduced the Canon Powershot A640 and A630. These cameras will be in stores in October. The A710 IS and A640 will retail for $399, while the A630 will retail at $299.
The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi (or EOS 400D outside North America) digital SLR has been announced today. The XTi replaces the Digital Rebel XT as Canon's entry level digital SLR. The XTi features 10.1 megapixels of resolution, a 2.5 inch, 230K pixel LCD, an imaging sensor cleaning system, and other enhancements. It will be available in September for $899 with the EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens and $799 for the body only.
Nikon has announced three new cameras in their "Style" line of digital cameras. The Nikon Coolpix S9 resembles the S5 and S6 models introduced earlier this year with the slim wave design. The Nikon Coolpix S10 has the same swivel body as the S4 model from last year - they have to make room for the lens somehow. The Nikon Coolpix S7c has the slim wave design, but features WiFi, a 3 inch screen, and it's not silver.
Nikon has announced two new cameras in their Coolpix "Life" or L lineup of digital cameras. The Nikon Coopix L5 features 7.2 megapixels, 5x optical zoom, 2.5 inch LCD and Nikon's Vibration Reduction system. It will be available in September for $299. The Nikon Coolpix L6 features 6 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.5 inch LCD, and 1000 shots on the included Energizer lithium AA batteries. The L6 will available in September for $199.
Olympus has announced four new digital cameras in their weatherproof Stylus line. The Olympus Stylus 730, Stylus 740, Stylus 750, and Stylus 1000 all feature the good looks and weatherproof (water resistant) that the Stylus line is known for. However, a new 5x optical zoom lens system and CCD-shift image stabilization have found their way into the line.
The Olympus SP-510 UZ (ultra zoom) is one of nine new cameras announced by Olympus today. The SP-510 is an upgrade from the SP-500. The new camera features 7 megapixels, a 10x optical zoom, and a 2.5 inch LCD. Look for the Olympus SP-510 UZ in September for an estimated street price of $329.
