The Nikon Coolpix S7c has a lot going for it that make it a pretty "hot" gadget - it's slim, it's attractive, it has a 3 inch LCD, and it has wireless capability. We're working on our full review of the 7.1 megapixel, 3x optical zoom camera and wanted to give your our first impressions on the camera.
If you haven't heard about the Global Connection Project and its Gigapixel Panoramas, I highly recommend that you check it out. Using a robotic platform called the Gigapan, you can take very large, detailed panoramas using a standard digital camera. Read on for links to some great panoramas.
DigitalCameraReview.com spent a quick couple of days in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show. Here is what we came away with after checking out the latest digital cameras and meeting with the manufacturers.
The new Canon PowerShot A710IS is one of the most impressive general use digital cameras introduced this season and easily the most remarkable "A" series digicam introduced to date. Here are our first thoughts while we wrap up our full review of this camera.
Samsung decided to start 2007 off with a bang and six new digital cameras. There are four new S series cameras and two new L cameras. In the interest of keeping up with things at CES, I'm going to keep things short and sweet.
The Casio Exilim Hi-Zoom EX-V7, at the time of this announcement, is the world's slimmest digital camera with a stabilized 7x optical zoom. The 7.2 megapixel V7 is only 24.3mm thick (about 0.95 inches) and also has a 2.5 inch LCD. Casio will be showing off the new camera at this year's Consumer Electronics Show and it will be available in March for $399.
Kodak is providing plenty of reasons for people to visit their booth at this year's CES. They've announced two new digital cameras - Easyshare V803 and Easyshare V1003 - and an entire line of digital photo frames. In addition to the "gadgets", they're also announcing additional services for storing, sharing and organizing your images - their kiosks will now write DVDs, they will have an image backup service via Kodak Gallery, and their software will be able to scan through your images to find similar faces.
Just wanted to let you know that tomorrow morning, we're headed out to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. We'll be there to get hands on with the new cameras and to let you know what we think about them.
Kodak added another digital camera to their C series without much fanfare. The Kodak Easyshare C653 features 6.1 megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a 2.4 inch LCD. It's currently available for $129.95.
The new 8 megapixel Fujifilm Finepix F40fd is a successor to the 6 megapixel F31fd. As the "fd" nomenclature signifies, the F40fd also includes Fujifilm's facial detection technology that uses a dedicated processor to detect up to 10 faces in a picture efficiently. The camera also features a 3x optical zoom and 2.5 inch, 230K pixel LCD. The F40fd will come available in March 2007 for $299.
Following the success of the Fujifilm Finepix S3 Pro UVIR digital SLR, Fujifilm decided to work on a more affordable option. The IS-1 features a nine megapixel sensor and is configured to capture infrared light. The IS-1 will be available in limited distribution for $899, starting in February 2007.
