Just in time for Father's Day, the GE E850 digital camera will be available in Radio Shack stores starting on June 10. Radio Shack will remain the exclusive source for the GE E850 until September 2007. The GE E850 is the middle of the pack model in GE's digital camera line, with 8 megapixel resolution, 5x optical zoom, and 3 inch LCD. The E850 will retail for less than $200.
While summer is not officially here quite yet, it is still June and hot enough to be summer (at least where I live). Father's Day is quickly approaching and there are probably still some graduates out there who need to be shopped for. If you need a start with shopping, this list of cameras shows you what visitors of DigitalCameraReview.com looked at over the past month.
We're currently working on our full review of the 8.1 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100 and wanted to give you a few initial impressions. The T100 is the latest flagship of Sony's slim and stylish T series. With the T100, Sony has increased the optical zoom to 5x and given the cameras HD output capabilties. The large 3 inch LCD provides plenty of space to frame your shots and review them later. The new T cameras also feature the Bionz processor that was first seen in Sony's Alpha A100 digital SLR.
I mentioned in my earlier Casio article that it was one of two 12 megapixel announcements today - well here's the other one. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX100 features 12 megapixel capture resolution, a stabilized Leica lens capable of wide angle (28mm equivalent) and 3.6 optical zoom, and a 2.5 inch LCD. The FX100 will be available in mid-July in silver and black.
One of two 12 megapixel announcements today, the Casio Exilim EX-Z1200 is the latest Casio Zoom digital camera. Besides the 12 megapixel capture resolution, the camera also features CCD-shift image stabilization, a 2.8 inch Wide and Bright LCD, 3x optical zoom and the Exilim Engine 2.0. The Z1200 will be available in two colors - silver and black - in July for a suggested retail of $399.
The Coolpix L12 is the flagship model of Nikon’s “L” family of entry-level digicams. Nikon’s “L” series digicams closely resemble (in both form and function) Canon’s “A” series digital cameras, and there’s nothing wrong with that - imitation is, after all, the sincerest form of flattery. Canon’s “A” series digicams are justly famous for their practicality, flexibility, class leading performance, reasonable pricing, impressive build-quality, and amazing ease of use. The Nikon Coolpix L12 is a “minimalist look” doppelganger for Canon’s nifty Powershot A550.
For decades Nikon was the camera of choice for photojournalists and serious amateur shooters, but Canon has done a much better job since the beginning of the digital era - especially when it comes to creating fashionable and easy to use ultra-compact digital cameras. That may be about to change. Here are our first thoughts on the Nikon Coolpix S200.
With the Canon Powershot S5 IS, Canon has rolled out the long-anticipated successor to the S3 IS. Along with the S5 IS announcement, Canon is also announcing the Powershot SD850 IS. Even though both cameras are very different - the S5 IS is a larger ultra-zoom, and the SD850 IS is an ultra-compact - they still have a lot in common. The Powershot S5 IS will be available in June for $499 and the Powershot SD850 IS will ship in June for $399.
