Pentax Optio E30 Digital Camera Hands On Preview

The latest entry level model in Pentax's extensive line of point & shoot digital cameras is the Optio E30. As with any digital camera, there are pros and cons. This particular camera is considered "entry level", with a straighforward feature set, low price and ease of use as its selling points. Bottom line, the Optio E30 is great for those consumers getting their first digital camera.

Pentax Optio A30 and Optio W30 Digital Cameras Announced

Pentax announced two new additions to their Optio line today. The Pentax Optio A30 is their "advanced" model that replaces the A20. It features 10 megapixels of resolution, a high resolution 2.5 inch LCD, 3x optical zoom, and CCD-shift image stabilization. The Pentax Optio W30 updates their line of waterproof digital cameras and shoots at 7.1 megapixels with a 3x optical zoom and 2.5 inch LCD.

Pentax Optio T30 and Optio M30 Digital Cameras Announced

Pentax has announced the Optio T30 and Optio M30 digital cameras to succeed the T20 and M20 (respectively). Both new cameras features a new facial recognition feature to provide accurate auto focus and auto exposure on the faces in your frame. Both cameras will be available in March with the T30 for $350 and the M30 will be available for $200.

Pentax Optio E30 Digital Camera Announced

Pre-CES - Pentax is "breaking the seal" on what will probably be a rash of digital camera announcements surrounding this year's CES (Consumer Electronics Show). The 7.1 megapixel Pentax Optio E30 is an entry level model that accepts AA batteries, has a 3x optical zoom and a 2.4 inch LCD. The E30 will be available in February for $149.95.

Pentax and Hoya Management Integration (Merger)

Pentax and Hoya have announced a merger where, effective on October 1, 2007, they will be known as the Hoya Pentax HD Corporation. By joining forces, they seek to use their strengths to establish better value for the shareholders. Fortunately, it doesn't look like this involving digital cameras will actually change that much.
