Nikon releases firmware update for D40 and D40x DSLRs

Nikon has released a firmware update for its D40 and D40x DSLRs. Firmware version 1.12 for the D40 and version 1.01 for the D40x will improve the function of the cameras with Nikon's EN-EL9a batteries.

Nikon D5000 officially unveiled

With all of the rumors swirling around this one over the last few weeks, it's fair to say that we weren't exactly surprised when Nikon announced its latest consumer DSLR - the Nikon D5000 - right on schedule this evening. With HD video capture and a unique tilt/swivel LCD, the D5000 brings shooting hardware from Nikon's higher-end models to a price and a form factor that should appeal to casual shutterbugs.

Nikon rolls out Coolpix P90 with 24x zoom

Kodak and Olympus stirred the ultrazoom pot in their CES announcements, and tonight Nikon joined the fray with the launch of the 24x zoom, 12.1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix P90. Building on the success of the P80, this latest addition to Nikon's Performance series of Coolpix cameras looks to make a splash at next month's PMA show in Las Vegas.
