Adobe Announces Integration of Creative Suite with Creative Cloud, Goes Subscription Only

[click to view image]Adobe made a big announcement at its MAX Creativity Conference in Los Angeles today. The company announced a major update to its Creative Cloud service, adding new features and moving its Creative Suite of products completely to the cloud.

The new service will be available in June and offers users a set of desktop applications with cross-device collaboration and publishing capabilities. Adobe will focus all of its creative software development on Creative Cloud going forward, meaning the desktop tools previously known as Creative Suite have been integrated into Creative Cloud and have been rebranded as "CC."

Adobe said in a statement that "while Creative Suite 6 products will continue to be supported and available for purchase, the company has no plans for future releases of Creative Suite or other CS products."

This update to Creative Cloud includes the integration of the Adobe desktop applications, including Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, Dreamweaver CC and Premiere Pro CC. The move to Creative Cloud also includes integration of Behance, an online portfolio tool.

Customers can get the full set of tools and features by subscribing to Creative Cloud online. Subscriptions are priced at $49.99 a month and users will see their services automoatically upgraded as new software is released.
