Pixuru App Makes DSLRs Obsolete?
by Laura Hicks -  4/10/2013

Have you always wanted to see your iPhone images larger than life? No, I'm not talking about those silly selfies -- I mean the awesome shot you nabbed of the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park. Well, now you are in luck!

Compatible with the iPhone 3 GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, Pixuru is announcing the launch of a free photo-to-canvas app. If you don't have an iPhone, all you have to do is wait until the summer when they release the app for the Android market.

Pixuru allows you to send photos from your phone to Pixuru's printing facility. You choose the type (canvas, metal, wood, or framed prints) and size of print, and receive the order within a week. Just take a picture and the app guides you through the rest of the process, simulating size and style on a wall background. Once you select the size and style of your wall art, you are led to a checkout process. The app will remember a user's information to streamline the process for subsequent orders.

Pixuru has a patent-pending printing process and technology that can produce extremely large prints while keeping the integrity of the picture. Here's what the founder had to say:

"Our groundbreaking printing process eliminates the need for most people to own a digital camera. We can enlarge any picture from their smartphone to the size of their couch and it will still look impeccable," Pixuru founder Adam Fried said.  "Pixuru is next step in the evolution of digital photography."

Pixuru produces high quality wall art at consumer prices. The smallest print, a 6"x6", is $20 and a 16"x20" is $55, all with free shipping.

We checked out their website and it looks like they can print images up to a 30"x40". The fact that they print on wood and metal is a cool option. We might just have to try them out!
