Nikon is announcing the launch of Nikon Image Space, formerly known as Picturetown, a free online image sharing and storage site designed for the public, not just Nikon users. Nikon Image Space promises to make it easy for photographers to upload, view, organize and share their photographs.
Nikon has offered my Picturetown, an online storage and sharing space, since August 2007. They recently completed an overhaul of the service, taking the opportunity to change the name from my Picturetown to Nikon Image Space. Current users of my Picturetown will have their user account information and content automatically transferred to Nikon Image Space.
Nikon Image Space is offering two free types of accounts. Basic accounts are available to anyone. Users of Nikon digital cameras have the option of upgrading to a special account that offers more online storage space. While both types of accounts are free of charge, the maximum storage space is 2 GB for Basic accounts and 20 GB for Special accounts. The special accounts will also offer more advanced functions, including the ability to apply a password when sharing images and a function that restricts image download.
The new site will be available on January 28, 2013.
