One of the cool things about smartphone photography apps are the broad range of results you can achieve with a simple, free download. Nowadays there’s virtually no limit to what you can get effects-wise with a basic camera-enabled smartphone and a little bit of bandwidth. A good example of this is Mirror Photo: Editor & Collage, a fun and easy to use app that can take your favorite things in the world and multiply them by two.

Mirror PhotoMirror effects on images can be accomplished in two ways: through the application’s camera function, which lets you add a variety of effects as you take a shot, or by importing existing snapshots from your gallery. In addition to the app’s unique ability to make loved ones appear like they were just chewed up and spit out of a funhouse mirror, Mirror Photo also brings a boatload of dynamic effects that can imbue your twisted inventions with a dash of artistic flair. There are over 30 photo filters and about 50 frames to choose from, and randomization of mirror, filter, and frames is also enabled for those who can’t make up their minds which disturbing directions to go.

True to its name, the app is also a collage maker that can produce decent number of visual medleys using whatever snapshots you’ve got preloaded on your phone. The app comes with two standard collage modes named Free Collage and Grid Collage, but beyond that there’s also the ability to choose from a sizable range of collage templates (about 150 all told) that let you import snapshots, rearrange their size and order, and throw in any combination of effects.

Mirror Photo won’t exactly revolutionize mobile photography, but its shareability via a variety of social media channels including Instagram, Twitter and, Facebook could be enough to boost you to the top of your friends’ feeds as someone whose snapshots are actually worth looking having a second look at. The app requires Android 4.0.3 and up and is available for free at Google Play.
