PROS: Wide angle, easy to use, manual controls, well machined, prints are fine up to ISO 200...adequate at ISO 400. For the internet, nothing more is needed. Most of all, the price is now right. It was high for the market when introduced and for months after. Currently...at under $230...nothing comes close.

CONS: Small joystick. You have to scroll to page 4 to reformat the card.

Real State of the Art Ultra Compact

PROS: Great touchscreen but leaves smudges. Best to use the 'pick' that is included or get Promaster cleaning cloth. Camera is absolutely feature rich but will take some reading to get used to all the features. Super wide angle shots and good telephoto. So far picture quality is really good for a compact. A previous reviewer was critical of the quality as compared to his DSLR (not a very fair comparison). I would buy this again tomorrow and look forward to using many more of the features especially HD capability this summer. Price is a little high at $399 list but prices are coming down as more units become available. Panasonic has really outdone itself with this new state of the art product. P.S. Don't believe all you read from the Canon representatives. PROS: 25MM-125MM lens,(5X to 8.9X) optical stabilized zoom, very good battery life, HD capabilities, touchscreen "relatively" easy menus,

CONS: Screen smudges easily (use cleaningcloth or plastic pick supplied), a little expensive at $375-$400 but truly state of the art at present.

Great Idea But Terrible Picture Quality - DO NOT BUY

PROS: Love the touchscreen and how intuitive the controls are. Design is quite nice. Build quality is great too. The Ai seems to be able to recognize various shooting modes accurately. Backlight feature is nice. Ability to touch the subject you want to focus on is awesome.

CONS: Pre-ordered this one without seeing any reviews. Wanted to buy a sidekick for my Nikon D70s. Saw this one and thought it is perfect, based on the Panasonic write-up. After taking some test shots, the picture quality is awful even at lowest ISO and highest PQ settings - grainy and smudgy, displaying numerous compression artifacts and various noise. It is definitely inferior to the lower priced and lower megapixel Canons out there (compared side-by-side). Honestly would not buy it for even $100. Boxed it up immediately and returning it back. STAY AWAY! Panasonic, keep trying!
