Poor image quality

PROS: Compact, small and a good looking camera.

CONS: The 1010 has a smaller - 1/2.3" CCD sensor with 10 megapixels. More pixels on a smaller area means that a pixel size must be much smaller which results into a lower picture quality, and yet the manufactuers own website states "Better low light shooting thanks to BrightCapture Technology". After taking some very poor quality pictures, and contacting Olympus, their own words of advise being "to set the ISO value manually and keep the ISO settings as low as possible". Not very good from a company that states of this model the "ultimate in modern compact photography". The face detection has also been a real disappointment. My camera, since the day I purchased it, has been set up in face detection mode. I have seen it in action once, only never to be seen again!

Great Little Camera

PROS: The small size of the 7x zoom is amazing. It's the reason I bought this camera. The images are reasonably low in noise. The color rendition is very accurate. The shutter response is very good.

CONS: The lack of manual control. Limited flash range at low ISO, but tell me a compact camera that doesn't have that limitation.

PROS: Excellent features for the price, when compared to models from Canon, Nikon, and others. 7x zoom The super macro is really good.

CONS: The panorama feature won't work if you buy microSD memory and use the adapter. You have to buy the more expensive XD memory to enable this feature.
