PROS: In my opinion it's the best compact camera I've ever seen! The design might not be like Sony's T series but the image quality is not even comparable. By this camera if you're looking for image quality and buy Sony T200 if you're looking for fashion! Best things about it: Large Screen, Wide Angle Lense, Complete Features for compact camera, Good battery life and etc.
CONS: Maybe the design, Flash exposure is not adjustable. To me that's it.

PROS: I think if you learn to work with this toy in manual mode you'll change your mind. I've been taking picture with SLR & DSLR for years, Recently I decided to get a point & shot (compact) camera as well. I researched alot and finally I got Canon SD870IS and I think it worth every penny I paid. You just need to know how to play with it. You can take a look at the samples of pictures that people have taken with this camera then you'll see what I'm saying! So please don't complain on a hight rated camera if you don't know how to play with it.
CONS: Flash exposure is not adjustable in long shutter mode! I think that's all for a small camera.

PROS: We have a Fujifilm 3800. My wife wanted something smaller and more compact for Christmas. I searched high and low and read all the reviews. We aren't photography experts by any stretch but I'll tell you we didn't have a single picture from Christmas that was worth printing. With the flash on in full auto mode the pictures were washed out. Without the flash the pictures were blurry. It is very frustrating. I'm not sure if we got a dud or not but this camera certainly doesn't deserve the rave reviews its received. I wish someone could create a compact camera that takes good pictures indoors and is quick enough to grab that magical moment with your kids.

PROS: Wide angle lens, picture quality, design and build quality.
CONS: I read so many glowing reviews of this camera that I think I set my expectations too high. The best feature of this camera is the wide angle lens. That is the main reason I bought it. I got it just before Christmas and it was the last one in black that I could find. Right out of the box I noticed that the color temperature of the LCD screen was too high and there is no adjustment for it. No big deal, I could live with that. I enjoyed snapping dozens of pictures at our Christmas party and couldn't wait to lay them back on my high Def 50" plasma. Toward the end of the night we all sat around to look at some of the photos and I was bit embarrassed. Every other shot had spots on them. When asked why, I explained that it was probably some lint on the lens. The next day, I cleaned the lens very well using a lens cloth. The spots still appeared in some of the shots, not all, which i found to be very strange. I tried to exchange it for another one, but Circuit City is all out and they don't know when they will get more. I just wish that more manufacturers offered this type of point and shoot with a wide angle lens. I will probably end up exchanging t for a different brand.

PROS: Bought the camera for my wife. Half the pictures she would take were always blurred. Since she has been using the Cannon SD870IS she hasn't taken a bad picture yet.

PROS: Definitly "Best quality" in compact cameras! Very solid, nice 3.8x optical zoom, very wide angle for a compact camera very good battery life, HUGE display screen. I researched alot before I buy it and almost was buying Sony Cybershot T200, but fortunately I didn't. You can't even compare the quality of the picutres!
CONS: None, Really None
OVERALL SCORE:10/10
PROS: It's small, reliable, does an admirable job in low light and at night, and it's easy to use with that awesome 3 inch screen! Best of all, the picture quality is superb! After using other ultra compacts and compacts like a Panasonic TZ3 and some of the small Sony's, I am pleased I purchased this Canon. It costs a bit more, but it doesn't take blurry shots like the others. I was worried about ditching my old reliable Canon A610 but not anymore. This is smaller and better! The red eye removal tool really works, the IS is insanely amazing, this camera is fast fast fast for such a tiny little guy, and the wide angle mode is nice! If it's been a few years since you purchased a new digital, then it's time to upgrade because the technology really has made vast improvements. Here's the deal folks...almost all the reviews say Canon has the best image quality and this little camera proves it again.
CONS: My last camera had more manual controls and while I don't miss them, I do miss being able to increase and decrease the flash output while using the macro mode as the flash can sometimes wash out the macro shots or portrait shots. This is an issue if you take this camera underwater without an external strobe. That said, auto mode is very stable and the various modes do a pretty good job of handling all types of situations. If the sd 870 had more zoom, it would be PERFECT!
