  The camera is user friendly with alot of features an ametuer photographer can appreciate. Only con so far is approximately 1 out of 4 shots are blurry. I am still learning and could be the user not the camera.

PROS: I thought about this a LOT before I took the plunge. I wanted to get something we would actually take along, always have in the car or with us, a real "grab it and go" rather than the usual ".......do we want to lug the camera along?" routine. It had to have a long enough zoom for nature shots on a hike, versitile enough to take on a longer trip, and yet be something I could put in my pocket and would actually want to use. So it came down to three contenders....the SX100, the Lumix TZ3, and the Sony DSC H3, all compact cameras with a 10x zoom lens. While the Lumix TZ3 was relatively smaller, ligher, and admittedly a no-brainer to take along, it felt a tad flimsier, especially in the controls, and had no manual exposure modes. It (the Lumix) has a nice 3" screen and a Leica lens, but bottom line, the SX100 seems to be a better camera and hands down takes better looking pix, so there you have it. The Sony WAS a serious contender primarily because of the available add on lenses (that we already have).....it's just that if we got the H3 we felt we would never want to use our other camera, which happens to be a Sony H1 (it, too, is a great camera....just too big for "everyday" use). So, the SX100 takes great pictures, offers a lot of creative control, requires no rocket science to use, is a solidly built camera, and comes in at a really great price (although I think all three can be had for similar prices).

CONS: A tad bigger and heavier than the camera of my dreams, which doesn't exist (yet), but not so much as to be a deal-breaker. The flash-cycle-time thing you've read about is true. Be patient and breathe. A view-finder would have been nice, but good luck finding one in the competition. Does not come with rechargeable batteries, and you will need to get a bigger memory card.

  Great point and shot camera

PROS: Great pictures. Large optical zoom. Inclusion of the image stabilizer.

CONS: Slow recharge time for the flash. No viewfinder but its ok for me. No included rechargeable batteries. Strap included is not too good as compared to my IXUS strap.

  This is insane quality for a small price

PROS: Picture quality is superb. Dead on the money sharp photos! Full Manual control. 10x optical zoom that really works well with an excellent stabilization feature. You can't go wrong with this camera if you are looking for what really is a mini G9/almost DSLR featured camera for under 200 bucks! Canon does it again. Highly recommend!

CONS: One really has to get picky to find faults with this camera. Here are a few minor points. The flash recycle time can be as long as 8+ seconds and you have to raise the flash to use it. Some may argue this camera is too big compared to a few of the smaller 10x zoom cameras like the Panasonic Lumix BUT the Panasonic Lumix takes blurry/fuzzy shots and is useless in low light so there ya go. Also, the smaller 10x's don't have the manual feature set that this camera has. All that said, this camera is roughly the size of the Powershot "A" series from Canon and that's pretty small for a full manual camera with a stable 10x optical zoom that REALLY WORKS WELL. Canon quality!
